A Real American Cowboy! |
In the American West there are a precious few who can call themselves all around western horsemen. Virgil has years of experience at cutting and driving cattle, working with teams, saddle bronc riding, training, boarding, and shoeing. If you want to talk to someone that knows the western tradition, then you want to talk to someone that has lived it. You talk to a genuine cowboy -- when you talk to Virgil Wicks. As a boy Virgil worked with his grandfather who ranched and farmed with horses. Later on he became a professional saddle bronc rider and was active with the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) circuit for 25 years! When the rodeo team at Lewis & Clark State College needed a coach, they recruited Virgil, one of Idaho's renowned and respected "all around cowboys" to take on the job. When the Nez Perce Indian Tribe -- the people of the great Chief Joseph -- needed someone to instruct the younger generation on traditional horsemanship the Tribe called on Virgil, a man who has lived and continued in that tradition. |
